LABINSIYAM na katao ang inaresto ng pulisya matapos mahuling nagbibiyahe ng 76 na sako ng ore minerals sa Barangay Bunawan Brook, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur noong Lunes, Setyembre 1.

Kinilala ang mga suspek na sina: Jayson, 39; Jonnel, 37; Edgar, 38; Ariel, 28; Jessie, 54; Jerry, 38; Ruel, 24; Jemar, 38; Ryan, 30; Jerome, 18; Michael, 35; Paul, 29; Melvin, 37; Eugen, 56; Percival, 34; Rey, 47; Winston, 33; Jerome, 29; at Justine, 19, na pawang mga residente ng Davao de Oro.

Nakasabat ang mga tauhan mula sa 2nd Agusan del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company at Bunawan Municipal Police Station sa checkpoint ng isang Nissan Navara pick-up na may kargang 10 sako ng ore minerals, isang JMC FB-body vehicle na may 35 sako, at isang JMC Grand Avenue pick-up na may 31 sako.

Nang tanungin ang mga driver, bigo silang makapagpakita ng legal na dokumento na nagbibigay pahintulot sa pagbibiyahe ng mga mineral kaya’t agad silang inaresto.

Mahaharap ang mga nadakip sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 7942 o Philippine Mining Act of 1995.

“I commend our personnel for the successful arrest of the suspects. The total amount and value of the seized ore minerals have yet to be determined, as our investigators are coordinating with the proper government agency for assessment,” pahayag ni PBGen Magistrado IV.
