NAGLALAYON umanong palakasin ng panukalang 2024 national budget ang purchasing power ng mga Pilipino, ayon sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Ayon kay DBM Principal Economist Joselito Basilio lalakas ang purchasing power ng mga Pilipino kung bababa ang presyo ng mga bilihin at makakamit ito kung magkakaroon ng sapat na suplay ng pagkain at bababa ang logistics at transport cost.

“The budget is presented. There are two main important socioeconomic agenda in the near term that are being addressed. Of course, food sufficiency and then next is iyong reduced logistics and transport cost,” sabi ni Basilio.

Sinabi ni Basilio na itinaas ang pondo sa sektor ng agrikultura at agrarian reform sa ilalim ng panukalang 2024 national budget.

“Iyong railway projects and other transport system projects of the DOTr as well as DPWH are meant to increase (efficiency) and make smoother iyong flow ng goods and services and even of people who market their products…(both) within the country and abroad,” sabi ng opisyal.

Mayroon ding umanong inilaang pondo para sa renewable energy initiative upang bumaba ang presyo ng kuryente na makatutulong din sa pagbaba ng presyo ng mga bilihin.

“If inflation impacts the vulnerable sectors, we still have social protection programs although nag-decrease siya… but the point now is—after the pandemic … for example, the fisherfolks and farmers experienced the negative effects of higher inflation, there are livelihood programs that are meant to make them recover faster,” dagdag pa nito.
