IKINASA na ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan ang kanilang suporta para House Majority Leader at Leyte 1st Dist. Rep. Martin G. Romualdez bilang susunod na House Speaker sa ilalim ng 19th Congress.

Ito ay matapos pagtibayin ng 65 kongresista na kasapi ng PDP Laban sa Kamara de Representantes ang kanilang suporta para kay Romualdez bilang bagong House Speaker ng 19th Congress.

Sinabi ni PDP Laban President at Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi na napag-desisyunan ng mga kongresista kabilang na ang mga opisyal ng partido na suportahan si Romualdez bilang Speaker of the House sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Ipinaliwanag ni Cusi na si Romualdez ang napagkaisahan nilang suportahan. Sapagkat naniniwala sila na hindi lamang maipagpapatuloy ng susunod na administrasyon ang magagandang programa at adhikaing isinulong ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Kundi maisusulong pa ni Romualdez ang mahahalagang “legislative agenda” ng adminiatrasyong Marcos. Sa ilalim ng kaniyang liderato bilang House Speaker.

“Our 65 newly-elected PDP Laban representatives have all promised to continue and surpass the achievements of the Duterte administration through legislation and budgetary appropriation such as the Free Education for all, the Build, Build, Build program, the Universal Health Care, the Free Irrigation, TRAIN Law, the Barangay Development Program and the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict or the NTF ELCAC. These are unprecedented and milestone programs that are needed to be continued, and everyone agrees that Cong. Romualdez is the right leader for the job,” pahayag ni Cusi.

Ipinaliwanag pa ni Cusi na: “The PDP Laban representatives are also ready to support President-elect Marcos in the 19th Congress. Ikinagagalak nga ng ating mga Kongresista na sa hinaba-haba ng panahon, ngayon lang muli na ang mga proyekto ng kasalukuyang administrasyon ay magtutuloy-tuloy sa susunod na Pangulo. Alam nila na magiging successful ang transition kung si Cong. Romualdez ang mangunguna sa Kongreso.”
