UMAPELA si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Estados Unidos na gamitin ang global clout nito upang mapababa ang presyo ng produktong petrolyo na lubhang nakaapekto sa maraming bansa.

Ginawa ni Marcos ang apela sa isinagawang ASEAN-US Summit na dinaluhan ni US President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

“We appeal as well to the United States to use its global influence to help ease the current global plight of rising fuel prices that we all have to deal with. We also encourage the US’ long-term support for the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Energy Cooperation,” ani Marcos sa ika-10 ASEAN-US Summit sa Phnom Penh.

Dahil sa gera sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine ay nagkaroon ng limitadong suplay ng produktong petrolyo na naging dahilan ng pagtaas ng presyo nito.

Bukod sa produktong petrolyo ay naging banta rin ito sa suplay ng fertilizer at pagkain.

“We also appeal for the US’ support for the work of the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity. The Center preserves ASEAN’s varied ecosystems and mainstreams biodiversity across relevant sectors. This is to increase resilience against climate change and its impacts and natural disasters,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
