De la Cruz, Mojdeh pakitang gilas
NAGPAKITANG gilas sina Thanya de la Cruz ng Ayala Harpoons Swim Club at dating Palarong Pambansa standout na si Jasmine Mojdeh ng Behrouz Elite Swimming Team sa pagsisimula ng akson sa 2022 Philippine Swimming Inc.- National Open sa newly-renovated na Rizal Memorial pool.
Nadomina ni De la Cruz ang kanyang pet event na women’s 50-meter breastroke, na kung saan nagtala siya ng oras na 32.49 seconds.
Higit na mas mabilis ito sa dating niyang national mark na 32.89 seconds, na kanyang ginawa sa nakalipas na Philippine Swimming Selection sa New Clark City Aquatic Center sa Capas, Tarlac nung Okt.22.
Pumangalawa si Shairrine Floriano ng Antipolo Gems Sea Scorpions sa oras na 35.49, habang pumangatlo si Sofia Annika Margare Isip ng AHSC sa 36.44 sa kumpetisyong itinataguyod ng Philippine Sports Commission
Nanalo din ang 19-taong-gulang na si De la Cruz sa women’s 50-meter freestyle sa oras na 27.95 seconds.
Tinalo niya sina Amina Isabelle Mondonedo ng Best Paranaque (28.72) at Trixie Ortiguera ng Tarlac Marko Sharks (29.30).
“While I was expecting to win the 50-meter breastroke, the win in the 50-meter freestyle was a pleasant surprise because it was just an added event for me,” pahayag ni Dela Cruz,na nagtapos sa San Lorenzo High School.
Samantala, namayani si Mojdeh sa women’s 100-meter butterfly event laban kina dating UAAP chsmpion Kirsten Chloe ng QC Buccaneers Club at Camille Buico ng Rising Atlantis SC.
Si Mojdeh, na tinagurian ding “Water Beast” dahil sa kanyang angking galing, ay nagtala ng 1:03.89 laban sa 1:04.10 ni Chloe at 1:04.20 ni Buico sa naging kapanapanabik na labanan.
Nagpasiklab din sina 2019 SEA Games bronze medalist Xiandi Chua ng All Star Swim Club at Miguel Barreto ng Ayala Harpoons SC matapos manalo sa women’s 200-meter at men’s 200-meter individual medley, ayon sa.pagkasunod.
Si Chua ay may oras na 2:23.31, samantalang si Barreto ay may 2:13.97.
Wagi din si Barreto sa men’s 400-meter freestyle, na kung saan tumapis sya sa oras na 4:13.08.
Sa men’s and women’s 100-meter backstroke, nanalo sina Armand Pierre Chan and Mishka Sy ng Quezon City Buccaneers SC sa oras na 58.80 at 1:08.91.
Ang nasabing swimming meet ay nagsisilbing tryouts para sa national team sa darating na 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Vietnam sa Mayo.
Nagpasalamat naman si PSI President Lani Velasco sa PSC, sa pangunguna ni Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez sa patuloy na suporta.
“If I am right, this is the first time in decades that this pool has undergone a major renovation, which would not have been possible without the support and assistance of the PSC,” sabi ni Velasco sa 7sang statement
“This is such a transformative gift by the PSC to our swimmers and the swimming community. We appreciate the PSC’s strong message of support,” dagdag pa niya.
