DOT agad na pinasasara sa DENR resort sa Chocolate Hills
KUMILOS na ang Department of Tourism (DOT) kaugnay sa kontrobersiyal na pagtatayo ng resort sa paanan sa Chocolate Hills sa Bohol matapos nitong ipag-utos sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang closure order laban sa Captain’s Peak Resort Development.
Sa official statement ng Tourism Department, iginiit ng ahensiya na hindi nito binigyan pahintulot para magtayo ng resort o maituturing na “accredited tourism establishment” ang Captain’s Peak Resort habang wala rin silang pending application para sa kanilang accreditation.
“The Captain’s Peak Resort Development in Chocolate Hills is not an accredited tourism establishment under the auspices of the Department Tourism’s accreditation system and there is no pending application for accreditation for the same,” ayon sa official statement ng DOT.
Ipinaliwanag pa ng DOT na sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Regional Office sa Central Visayas. Nakikipag-ugnayan sila sa Bohol Provincial Government mula pa noong August 2023 para ipaabot ang kanilang pagkabahala kaugnay sa isyu para maprotektahan at mapangalagaan ang Chocolate Hills.
Dahil sa kontrobersiya, ipinag-utos na ng Tourism Department sa DENR ang agarang pagkilos o gumawa ng nararapat na aksiyon patungkol sa nasabing issue sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalabas ng “Temporary Closure Order” kasabay ng pagsasagawa ng inspection laban sa Captain’s Resort.
Binigyang diin nito na layunin ng isasagawang inspection na matiyak na sinunod ng Captain’s Resort ang ipinataw na Closure Order. Habang sinasang-ayunan ng DOT ang posisyon ng Bohol Provincial Government na ang anumang konstruksiyon o development sa paligid ng Chocolate Hills ay kinakailangang ipagbawal.
“The DOT likewise commends the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to taking swift action in issuing a Temporary Closure Order and ordering for an inspection to ensure the resort’s compliance to the order, and agrees with the Bohol Provincial Government’s position that development within the Chocolate Hills area are not consistent with its long-term sustainability and should be disallowed,” nakasaad pa sa statement ng DOT.
