WALA umano sa lugar ang panawagan ni dating Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na bumaba ito sa puwesto upang palitan siya ni Vice President Sara Duterte na magpapahupa ng tensyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Sinabi ni House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre ng Tingog Partylist na ang panawagan ni Alvarez ay isang maling interpretasyon ng paglilingkod at katapatan sa bayan.

“Former Speaker (Pantaleon) Alvarez’s remarks are not only defeatist but dangerously naive. To suggest that President Marcos Jr. should resign in the face of aggression is to misunderstand the very essence of leadership and national sovereignty,” ani Acidre.

Ipinaalala ni Acidre sa kinatawan ng unang distrito ng Davao del Norte na mas kinakailangan ngayon ang pagkakaisa at pagtinding ng Pilipinas sa ilalim ng liderato ni Pangulong Marcos para depensahan ang integridad at karapatan ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea.

“We must confront our challenges head-on, not by backing down, but by asserting our rightful place in the international community,” giit pa ni Acidre.

“It may be true that it is no one’s responsibility to demonize one particular country, it is however best to be reminded that it is every government official’s sworn duty to protect and defend the Constitution – including every inch of our national territory,” pagtukoy ni Acidre sa mandato ni Marcos.

Bilang pinuno ng bansa, sinabi ni Acidre na tungkulin ni Pangulong Marcos na depensahan ang bansa sa anumang paraang at tiyakin na hindi magpapa-bully ang Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng pagpapasakop o kawalan ng aksyon.

“Our focus on economic development and addressing societal issues does not preclude the protection of our national interests,” ani Acidre.

“It is possible, and imperative, to pursue both. Calling for resignation instead of resilience and resolve shows a lack of faith in our nation’s capabilities and the leadership of President Marcos Jr.,” sabi ni Acidre kay Alvarez, na kaalyado ni dating Pangulong Duterte at kaniyang anak na si Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa isang kalatas na inilabas noong Miyerkules Santo, iminungkahi ni Alvarez kay Pangulong Marcos na bumaba na lamang ito sa puwesto para mapahupa ang tensyon sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at China sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea.
