SUPORTADO sa Kamara de Representantes ang panawagan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) na siguruhin na maaabot nito ang target na makolektang buwis na kailangan upang mapondohan ang mga programa ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

Sinabi ni House Deputy Majority Leader at TINGOG Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre na mahalaga na maabot ng BIR ang target nitong koleksyon para mapatupad ang mga programa ng gobyerno na makatutulong sa mga Pilipino.

Ayon kay Acidre ang Kongreso ay nagpapasa ng mga batas upang matulungan ang BIR na epektibong magawa ang mandato nito.

“We’d like to reiterate also the position of the Speaker that the House naman and Congress have also done their part to also assist BIR, especially with the passage of the Ease of Paying Taxes Act,” sabi ni Acidre

“So ginagawa natin ang lahat ng makakaya natin to support BIR and its revenue collection initiatives para naman mas mapagaan itong pagbabayad natin ng buwis,” dagdag pa nito.

Una nang hiniling ni Speaker Romualdez sa BIR na siguruhin na maging episyente ang pangongolekta nito ng buwis.

Ayon kay Acidre, agresibo ang administrasyong Marcos na maipagpatuloy ang paglago ng ekonomiya kaya mahalagang hindi magmintis ang BIR sa pangongolekta ng buwis para maipatupad ang mga programa ng pamahalaan laban sa kahirapan at kagutuman.

“We are more aggressive with ensuring economic growth towards the end of this administration. Napaka-importante po na we don’t miss our targets to make sure that the economic growth, our trajectory to the economic growth that we’ve want to realize, is on track,” paliwanag niya.

“So, we support the Speaker and of course, we are hopeful, too. We want to assure also the BIR that Congress is also open to any other initiatives or policy development that may be needed to further strengthen or empower the agency in the exercise of its mandate,” sabi pa ni Acidre.

Kinilala naman ni Speaker Romualdez ang paglago ng 17 porsyento ang nakolektang buwis ng BIR.

“That’s welcome news, and I credit the BIR for that. But 17 percent growth from total collections last year will mean the BIR will fall short of P3.05 trillion target set by the economic managers,” punto ni Speaker.

Ang naturang pagtaas ay katumbas ng P2.944 trillion na kabuuang koleksyon na mababa pa rin sa P3.05 trilyong target.

“It’s a high bar to clear. That’s why Congress has given the BIR the tools to collect more effectively from taxpayers,” saad pa ni Speaker Romualdez
