HOUSE Speaker Martin Romualdez gave the orders to the congressional district members of the House of Representatives, to support the relief efforts of the government in case their respective district is hit by a calamity.

Romualdez explained that the House members would be in a better position to provide help “since they know the areas in their own congressional district, and know the areas that are in need of immediate help because they have leaders in every town and city.”

By working together, “It would be easier for the government to send help, especially the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) because they already have prepositioned food packs,” the House Speaker added.

Romualdez said that all congressional districts affected by Storm “Kristine” would receive financial assistance from the government, through the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the DSWD.

More than P400 million would be given to the residents belonging to the 21 districts in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

“The government is here to help because we know the hardship that our kababayans went through during the onslaught of Storm ‘Kristine’,” Romualdez said.

He also said, “We will also fund for the rehabilitation and the repair of their roads, bridges and infrastructure that were damaged during the fierce storm.”
