NAGHAHANDA na ang Kamara de Representantes para sa nalalapit na impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Sinabi ng mga miyembro ng impeachment prosecution team na sina Deputy Majority Leader Lorenz Defensor ng Iloilo at 1-RIDER Party-List Rep. Rodge Gutierrez na sila ay determinado na gampanan ang kanilang mandato sa ilalim ng Konstitusyon.

“For sure and definitely, our preparation will continue,” ani Defensor.

“Magkakaroon tayo ng information campaign din para sa ating mga kababayan para maintindihan nila ang proseso ng impeachment to simplify it so that every citizen can understand the process,” dagdag niya.

Binigyang-diin ni Defensor na dapat mailahad ng simple at malinaw ang bawat Article of Impeachment upang maunawaan ito ng publiko.

Pinatunayan ni Gutierrez na handa ang Kamara at hindi ito aatras sa mga responsibilidad nito.

“As we’ve mentioned, the House will not shy away from its constitutional duty. We have already initiated the impeachment complaint as mandated by the Constitution and in addition to that, we will not shy away from the preparations,” ani Gutierrez.

Bagamat walang intensyon na gamitin ang kampanya, inamin ng dalawa na maaaring maitanong sa kanila ng kanilang mga constituent ang tungkol sa impeachment.

“Not necessarily campaign material but I have a platform since it is election,” ani Defensor.

“And it’s my duty to educate my voters, my citizens in my district to understand what the impeachment is about and what the allegations are all about,” dagdag niya.

Sinang-ayunan ito ni Gutierrez, na sinabing mismong publiko ang mag-uumpisa ng talakayan tungkol sa impeachment.

“I don’t think it will be using the campaign. I think our constituents themselves will be asking us, sila na mag-volunteer ng question,” paliwanag niya.

Dagdag pa niya na maraming tao ang nalilito at gustong maunawaan ang mga aksyon ng Kongreso.

“We will deliver, we will answer those questions and hopefully, it will enlighten our constituents,” ani Gutierrez.

Sinimulan na ng liderato ng House ang paghahanda ng impeachment secretariat upang matiyak na handa ang lahat ng kinakailangang dokumento, estratehiya, at legal na resources.

“As we speak, the House leadership is already preparing the impeachment secretariat so we will be prepared,” ani Gutierrez.

“If ever the Senate does indeed interpret that they could proceed with trial as early as March, we will be ready. If they decide that it will continue after June 2, we will be even more ready.”

Binigyang-diin ni Defensor na mahalaga ang pagkaunawa ng publiko sa impeachment, dahil ang impeachment ay tungkol sa pananagutan ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno.

“Bakit nangyayari ito? Ano ang dapat nating gawin? At intindihin niyo kasi tuwing bumoboto kayo kada eleksiyon, ‘yung mga opisyal na nakaupo dapat magsilbi yan sang ayon sa ating Konstitusyon,” binigyang-diin niya.

Inulit ni Defensor na dapat laging alalahanin ng mga nasa posisyon ang kanilang tungkulin sa tao.

“Dapat alalahanin nila na ang pwesto nila sa gobyerno ay utang na loob nila sa tao. And it’s not a cause for them to abuse their power when they’re in government,” aniya.

Pinaliwanag pa ni Gutierrez na nararapat lamang na mabigyan ng kasagutan at paliwanag ang mga mamamayan ukol sa impeachment.

“There is a lot of confusion, and they would like to understand the reasoning for our actions here in Congress and we will deliver, we will answer those questions,” aniya.

Tiniyak niya na magbibigay ang House ng malinaw at makatotohanang impormasyon upang matulungan ang publiko na maunawaan ang kaso laban sa opisyal na na-impeach.

“Hopefully, it will enlighten po our constituents,” dagdag ni Gutierrez.
