KINUMPIRMA ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na natanggap ng opisina nito ang isang sulat mula kay Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero kaugnay ng nalalapit na impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, at nangakong ipapaabot ang abiso ng Senado sa House prosecution panel.

“The House of Representatives confirms receipt of your Honor’s letter dated 19 May 2025, relative to the verified impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Z. Duterte,” ani Speaker Romualdez sa sulat na ipinadala sa Senado na may petsang May 22.

“This will be transmitted to the Panel of House Prosecutors,” ayon kay Speaker Romualdez.

Ang sulat ni Speaker Romualdez ay bilang tugon sa liham ni Senate President Escudero noong Mayo 19, 2025, na nagpapaabot ng abiso sa Kamara hinggil sa kahandaan ng Senado sa isasagawang impeachment proceedings.

Ang opisyal na komunikasyon mula kay Speaker Romualdez ay natanggap ng Office of the Senate President noong Huwebes, ganap na 12:28 ng hapon.

Ang liham ni Speaker Romualdez ay tugon sa komunikasyon mula kay Escudero noong Mayo 19, 2025, kung saan ipinaalam nito sa Kamara ang kahandaan ng Senado na isulong ang susunod na mga hakbang sa proseso ng impeachment.

Ayon kay Escudero, “Pursuant to Rule II of the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials, we would like to inform your good office that, having taken proper order on the impeachment of Vice-President Sara Z. Duterte, the Senate shall be ready to receive the House of Representatives’ panel of prosecutors at 4 o’clock in the afternoon of June 2, 2025.”

Muling ipinaalala ni Escudero ang inaasahang pagtalakay ng House prosecution panel sa pitong kaso laban sa Bise Presidente sa harap ng open session.

“As stated in our letter dated February 24, 2025, the Senate shall expect the prosecution to read the seven charges under the Articles of Impeachment in open session,” ayon pa sa liham ni Escudero.

Ipinaalam din ni Escudero kay Speaker Romualdez na pormal na magbubukas bilang impeachment court ang Senado sa ganap na alas-9 ng umaga sa Hunyo 3.

“The purpose of issuing the summons and such other relevant orders,” saad pa sa liham.

Ang palitan ng liham sa pagitan nina Speaker Romualdez at Senate President Escudero ay nagsisilbing pormal na paglipat ng hurisdiksyon ng impeachmemula sa House of Representatives patungo sa Senado.

Nakatakdang tanggapin ng Senado ang panel ng mga taga-usig mula sa House of Representatives kaugnay ng verified impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Duterte sa Hunyo 2, 2025.

Ang liham ay may kalakip din na kopya na ibinigay din sa Office of the Vice President at natanggap ng Central Records Unit sa parehong araw, batay sa natanggap na dokumento.

Ayon sa mga ulat, ang impeachment complaint ay isinampa sa Kamara sa unang bahagi ng 2025 at inaprubahan ng House Committee on Justice. Iniulat na pitong Articles of Impeachment ang isinasaad sa reklamo, kabilang umano ang mga isyu sa confidential funds at iba pang alegasyon ukol sa paggamit ng kapangyarihan.

Noong Pebrero 24, 2025, nagpahayag ang Senado ng kahandaan nitong tumanggap ng complaint mula sa Kamara sa oras na ito ay mapagtibay.

Alinsunod sa patakaran ng Kongreso, inaasahang babasahin ng panel ng Kamara ang Articles of Impeachment sa open session sa Hunyo 2.

Sa sumunod na araw, Hunyo 3, bubuuhin ang Senado bilang impeachment court upang ipalabas ang summons at iba pang kautusan kaugnay ng paglilitis. Sa ilalim ng Konstitusyon, kailangan ng boto ng dalawang-katlong bahagi ng Senado upang mapatalsik sa puwesto ang isang opisyal ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
