NAGBUNYI ang mga senador sa pagkakahirang ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. kay Sen. Juan Edgardo Sonny Angara bilang bagong kalihim ng Edukasyon at kapalit ng umalis sa pwestong si Bise President Sara Duterte.

Ani Angara, isang malaking karangalan aniya na pinagkatiwalaan siya ng Pangulong Marcos na hawakan ang ganitong kaprestihiyosong na posisyon sa ilalim ng Departamento ng Edukasyon na aniya isang malaking hamon sa kanya bilang kalihim ng kasalukuyan administrasyon.

“The trust he has placed in me by appointing me as the Secretary of the Department of Education. This significant responsibility is one I accept with humility and a profound sense of duty.” ani Angara na nagpahayag ng matinding pasasalamat sa pagtitiwalang ipinagkaloob sa kanya ng punong ehekutibo.

Bukod sa pangulo, ay pinasalamatan din ni Angara ang ibat ibang sektor na nagtulak upang siya ang piliin sa nasabing posisyon ng Malakanyang kung saan ay sinabi rin niyang hindi niya bibiguin ang kanilang mga tiwala.

Nauna rito ay sinabi ng Malakanyang na si Angara ang napisil ng pangulo bunga ng rin ng kanyang mga isinulong na lehislatura gayundin ng kanyang mga tinapos gaya ng kanyang Master of Laws mula sa Harvard University, Bachelor of Laws sa University of the Philippines, at Bachelor of Science in Economics mula sa London School of Economics.

Ang isang kontribusyon ni Angara bilang mambabatas ay ang Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act at ang Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 (K-12).

Para naman kay Sen. Nancy Binay ang pagpili kay Angara ay matatawag niyang “excellent choice.”

Alam na niya ang mga problema, at aware na siya sa mga solusyon na natalakay na rin sa EDCOM.” ani Binay na umamin din na magdudulot ng lungkot ang pag alis nito sa senado dahil na rin sa ipinakitang maayos ng pakikisama niton sa kanilang lahat.
