SINIGURO ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na titiyakin ng Kamara de Representantes na bawat piso sa panukalang P5.768 trilyong national budget para sa 2024 ay gagastusin ng tama.

“With utmost diligence, we will ensure that every centavo of the proposed P5.768 trillion budget will be judiciously spent,” ani Speaker Romualdez, lider ng 312 miyembro ng Kamara de Representantes sa pagsimula ng briefing kaugnay ng panukalang budget.

“Obligasyon po natin na tiyakin na bawat sentimong buwis na ibinabayad ng ating mga kababayan ay magagamit ng tama at nararapat. Bawat sentimo nila, may serbisyong kapalit mula sa gobyerno,” sabi pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Ang briefing ang pagsimula ng gagawing pagtalakay ng Kamara sa budget na isinumite ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Dumalo rito sina Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gov. Eli Remolona.

Siniguro ni Speaker Romualdez sa apat na opisyal na magiging transparent ang gagawing pagtalakay ng Kamara sa panukalang budget.

“The budget deliberations are a meticulous exercise that requires accuracy, objectivity, and most of all, transparency. As we hold the power of the purse, it is our duty to completely scrutinize the proposed 2024 national budget and deliver results that would sustain the gains of the past year and support the government’s priorities and policy directions as identified under the eight-point socioeconomic agenda and the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028,” sabi pa nito.

Hihimayin umano ng mga miyembro ng Kamara ang pondo ng mga departamento at ahensya at susuriin ang mga programa, aktibidad, at proyekto upang masiguro na tama umano ang pagkakagastusan ng limitadong pondo ng gobyerno.

Pinuri rin ng lider Kamara si Pangulong Marcos Jr. sa pagsusumite ng budget sa Kongreso 20 araw bago ang itinakdang deadline ng Konstitusyon.

Ang maaga umanong pagsusumite ng budget ay magbibigay sa Kamara ng panahon upang matalakay ng mabuti at maisumite ito sa Senado ng mas maaga.

“Sisiguruhin natin na maipapasa natin ang 2024 general appropriations bill sa loob ng limang linggo lamang. Apat na linggo sa mga komite, at isang linggo sa plenaryo,” dagdag pa nito.

Nanawagan din si Speaker Romualdez sa kanyang mga kapwa kongresista na lumahok, makinig, at igalang ang pananaw ng isa’t isa at pakinggan ang mga alalahanan lalo na ng mga nasa minorya at magkaisa para sa ikabubuti ng bansa.

“With an unyielding commitment to unity and accountability, let me assure you that the House of the People will diligently, swiftly, and resolutely take action on the proposed budget as outlined in the National Expenditure Program. We are completely mindful of the weight of this obligation, and we recognize the trust and faith reposed in us by our citizens,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.

“Together, let us be a champion of fiscal prudence, effective resource allocation and transparent governance. Through our collective efforts, we will continue to uplift the lives of the Filipino people and pave the way for the Philippines with a brighter future,” dagdag pa nito.
