SUPORTADO ni Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio ang isinasagawang imbestigasyon ng Kamara de Representantes kaugnay ng smuggling at hoarding ng produktong agrikultural sa bansa.

Sa briefing ng Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) sa mga miyembro ng House Committee on Appropriations ngayong Martes, pinasalamatan ni Quezon Rep. David “Jay-Jay” Suarez si Rubio sa paglahok ng kanyang ahensya sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Agriculture and Food na nag-iimbestiga sa hoarding ng sibuyas na nagpataas sa presyo kamakailan.

“I would like to thank the Bureau [of Customs] for sending over your personnel yesterday (Monday) who shed light on recent rates on supposed hoarder of illegal onions,” sabi ni Suarez na ang tinutukoy ay ang pagdinig ng Agriculture and Food committee.

Hiniling din ni Suarez sa BOC na magbigay ng regular na update sa Kamara kaugnay ng pagpasok ng mga imported na sibuyas at iba pang produktong pang-agrikultura.

“With respect to this, we ask for the Bureau of Customs to give us a regular update on not only onions but on all agricultural products na pumapasok sa ating bansa. Can we ask this from your agency?” sabi ni Suarez.

Tugon naman ni Rubio, “Yes sir, yes Mr. Chair.”

Nangako rin si Rubio na pag-iibayuhin ng BOC ang kampanya nito laban sa smuggling.

“The Bureau of Customs is relentless in our fight against smuggling, that’s why we have a lot of apprehensions now,” dagdag pa ni Rubio.

Samantala, sinabi ni Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Benjamin Diokno na maaaring magbago pa ang target revenue collection ng BOC ngayong taon.

Yung sinasubmit nga na budget sa inyo is based on the first two quarters pa lang yan eh. But we adjust the numbers and we will inform you on that adjustment,” sagot ni Diokno sa tanong ni Suarez.

“We’ll give you the most recent numbers that the DBCC has approved. We also meet every quarter rin with the DBCC and we adjust the numbers,” dagdag pa ng DOF chief.

Ayon kay Rubio ang target revenue ng BOC ngayong taon ay P901.337 bilyon.
