PAG-IIBAYUHIN pa ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang pagsasagawa ng mga operasyon laban sa smuggling na masama umano ang epekto sa ekonomiya ng bansa.

“We continuously enhance our intelligence and enforcement measures to protect our economy against these illegally imported goods that also pose health and safety hazards to local consumers,” sabi ni Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.

“The recent multiple seizures we had successfully conducted manifest our strengthened anti-smuggling campaign and unwavering dedication of the men and women of the BOC to curb smuggling and other forms of Customs fraud,” dagdag pa ng BOC Commissioner.

Ginawa ni Rubio ang pahayag matapos na magsagawa ng raid ang mga tauhan nito sa isang storage facility sa Binondo, Manila kung saan nakatago ang mga branded na bag, sapatos, beauty products at iba pang produkto.

Isang composite team ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ng Philippine National Police (PNP), at Task Force Aduana ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang pumunta sa warehouse na nasa Juan Luna street, Binondo dapat ang Letter of Authority (LOA) na pirmado ni Customs Commissioner Rubio.

Ayon kay Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy, ng BOC Intelligence Group naging posible ang operasyon dahil sa kagustuhan ni Rubio na malabanan ang smuggling sa bansa.

“Our good commissioner has taken it upon himself to lead the agency into a new chapter where our personnel is empowered to fulfill our mandate every day. His leadership allows us to get to the bottom of these illegal activities,” sabi ni Uy.

Ang mga may-ari ng produkto ay hihingian ng importation documents o proof of payment na patunay na legal na ipinasok ang mga ito sa bansa.

Kung wala ay isasagawa ang seizure and forfeiture proceeding dahil sa paglabag sa Sec. 1400 (misdeclaration in goods declaration) kaugnay ng Sec. 1113 (property subject to seizure and forfeiture) ng Republic Act No. 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
