𝗞𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗬 ng selebrasyon ng “international anti-corruption day”, nananawagan si Citizen’s Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) Party List Representive Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” C. Villanueva sa liderato ng Kamara de Representantes para sa agarang pagpasa ng Freedom of Information (FOI) bill.

Umaapela si Bro. Eddie kay House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III upang agad na maipasa at maisabatas ang inihain nitong House Bill No. 634 sa Kamara de Representantes na may pamagat na People’s Freedom of Information Act na tinawag nitong “long-overdue” dahil sa patuloy na pagkakabinbin nito.

Sinabi ng kongresista na ang isinulong nitong panukalang batas ang nararapat na solusyon para tuluyan ng puksain ang laganap na graft and corruption at ang pagpapanagot sa mga opisyal na sangkot sa katiwalian.

“On this special day, we renew our call for the swift passage of the long-overdue bill. The passage of the FOI law is the most appropriate responce to all the corruption scandals and exposes that shocked us in the past months and years. If we will not pass this now, we have already missed the point of it all. We will easily and immediately backslide to that miry clay of corruption again,” sabi ni Villanueva.

Ayon pa kay Villanueva, sa pamamagitan ng FOI bill. Madaling malalaman ng publiko ang mga nangyayaring katiwalian tulad ng budget insertions, ghost projects at mga substandard na proyekto bunsod ng transparency.

“Questionable budget insertions, ghost projects and substandard infrastructure will be easily spotted by a watching public. This is the opportune time to give birth to legislation. The FOI law will give life to the principles of transparency, accountability and people empowerment which are the best antidote to corruption,” wika pa ni Bro. Eddie.
