NAGPASALAMAT ang basketbolistang si Justin Donta Brownlee ng Barangay Ginebra sa suporta ni Speaker Martin G. Romualdez sa panukala upang siya ay mabigyan ng Philippine citizenship at maging bahagi ng Gilas Pilipinas.

Pumunta si Brownlee sa Office of the Speaker at personal na ipinarating kay Romualdez at iba pang lider ng Kamara ang kanyang pasasalamat.

Inaprubahan na ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang House Bill 6224 na nagbibigay ng Philippine citizenship kay Brownlee sa sesyon noong Martes, Nobyembre 29. Pinaboran ito ng 274 kongresista at walang tumutol.

“This is the House’s humble contribution to the national basketball team’s quest for glory in the FIBA World Cup. Anything is possible if you put your heart or ‘puso’ into it. Speaking of puso, we commend Justin for his desire in joining Gilas Pilipinas in this path, to represent the Philippines which is his home in this corner of the world,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, kapag naipasa na ng Senado ang kaparehong panukala at nalagdaan na ito ng Pangulo upang maging batas si Brownlee ay manunumpa ng katapatan sa Republika ng Pilipinas.

“Upon registration of the Oath of Allegiance, the Bureau of Immigration shall issue a Certificate of Naturalization to Justin Donta Brownlee who shall thereupon enter into the full enjoyment of Philippine citizenship,” sabi sa panukala.
