HINAMON ng mga lider ng Kamara de Representantes si Vice President Sara Duterte na patunayan na hindi ito spoiled brat sa pamamagitan ng paggalang sa proseso ng badyet at pagsagot sa mga tanong upang malinawan ang ginawa nitong paggastos ng pondo ng bayan.

Sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Appropriations sa ₱2.037-bilyong badyet ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) para sa 2025, paulit-ulit na tumanggi si Duterte na sagutin kung papaano nito ginastos ang ₱125 milyong confidential fund nito na naubos sa loob ng 11 araw noong Disyembre 2022.

Sinabi ni House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre na dapat prayoridad ng Bise Presidente ang transparency at accountability bilang isang opisyal ng gobyerno.

“Bakit ka nagpapaliwanag sa labas VP? Dito sa budget process ka magsalita sa ngalan ng transparency at accountability dahil pera ng taymbayan ang pinag-uusapan dito. Pumunta ka bukas (Tuesday) Vice President Duterte sa hearing. The budget hearings ensure that public funds are allocated responsibly and that agencies, including the OVP, justify their expenses,” paliwanag ni Acidre.

Iginiit ni Acidre na ang pag-usisa kung papaano ginagastos ang pondo ng taumbayan ay hindi isang pag-atake sa OVP kundi bahagi ng proseso upang maprotektahan ang pondo ng bayan.

“If she claims not to be a ‘spoiled brat,’ she must prove it by respecting the process and providing the answers we need to evaluate her office’s budget,” dagdag pa nito.

Iginiit naman ni Assistant Majority Leader at Taguig 2nd District Rep. Amparo Maria “Pammy” Zamora named ang pagtalakay sa badyet ay hindi tungkol sa kung ano ang nais na makuha o marinig ng mga kongresista kundi kung papaano nagamit ang pera ng taumbayan.

“It is our duty to ask tough questions, and it’s her duty as an elected official to respond thoroughly and with clarity,” sabi ni Zamora. “Dismissing our queries as ‘patutsada’ undermines the process and the institution we are all part of. We ask for professionalism.”

Ayon naman kay Assistant Majority Leader Jil Bongalon ang pagtatanong ng mga kongresista kaugnay ng badyet ay hindi dapat ituring ni Duterte na personal na pag-atake sa kanya.

“The refusal to answer questions about the confidential funds only raises more concerns,” punto ni Bongalon. “If she believes she has done no wrong, she should welcome the chance to explain her office’s actions. Public service requires transparency and humility, especially in handling public funds.”

Muling tatalakayin ng House Committee on Appropriations ang panukalang ₱2.037 bilyong badyet ng OVP sa Martes, Setyembre 10.
