ITINAMA ni House Secretary General Reginald Velasco ang mga espekulasyon na gagastos ng P20 milyon ang Kamara de Representantes para sa pagkain ng mga bisita sa State of the Nation (SONA) sa Hulyo 22.

“I would like to take this opportunity to clarify my recent statements regarding the budget allocated for the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA). There has been some misunderstanding about the figures mentioned, and I want to ensure that everyone has the correct information,” ani Velasco.

Ayon kay Velasco kasama sa gastusin ang ginagawang paghahanda sa SONA na nagsimula pa noong Marso 12, kung kailan nabuo ang SONA Task Force.

“The amount of P20 million I referred to represents the total budget earmarked for the preparations and execution of the SONA. This figure is an estimate and has not yet been fully expended,” giit ni Velasco.

Bukod sa meryenda ng mga bisita, sinabi ni Velasco na gagastusan din ng Kamara ang pagkain ng mga internal staff at external personnel gaya ng pulis na magbabantay sa serguridad sa paligid ng Batasan Complex gayundin ang mga tauhan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at iba pang support staff.

Isinama rin umano ng Kamara sa gastusin ang tatlong set ng uniporme ng nasa 2,000 empleyado ng House Secretariat na gagamitin hindi lamang sa araw ng SONA kundi sa kanilang araw-araw na pagpasok sa trabaho.

May bayarin din umano para sa mga dagdag na tauhan at equipment para matiyak ang seguridad at kaayusan ng SONA.

Kasama rin umano sa gastusin ang mga Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting na dinadaluhan ng iba’t ibang departamento at ahensya upang mapaghandaan ang SONA.

Bukod sa mga imbitasyon at giveaways, sinabi ni Velasco na may nerentahan ding LED law at iba pang equipment upang mapaganda ang audiovisual presentation at overall ambiance sa loob ng plenary hall at Batasan Complex.

Maglalagay din umano ng mga dekorasyon gaya ng mga naka-pasong halaman at bulaklak at kumuha rin ng dagdag na medical support mula sa kalapit na ospital.

“As Secretary General of the House of Representatives, I want to assure the public that we are committed to transparency and responsibility in spending public funds. Every peso allocated for the SONA is carefully scrutinized and managed to reflect the significance of this Constitutionally mandated event while being conscious of public sentiments regarding the use of taxpayers’ money,” ani Velasco.

“Our goal is to ensure that the 2024 SONA is conducted with the highest standards, reflecting our dedication to serving the people with integrity and accountability,” dagdag pa nito.
