PINURI ni Speaker Martin G. Romualdez ang kahandaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa pagdalo nito sa Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit sa Bangkok, Thailand.

Ayon kay Romualdez inani ng Pangulo ang respeto at paghanga ng mga lider ng iba’t ibang bansa at mga negosyante sa rehiyon na dumalo sa APEC Summit.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na tumango sina World Economic Forum founder, Prof. Klaus Schwab, at Global Chairman ng PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited na si Robert Moritz sa mga sinabi ng Pangulo.

“I think the President does very well in this fora, in these types of fora where there are exchanges, and in his insights into the conditionality in the Philippines whether it be economic or even political,” ani Romualdez.

Maging si dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, na bahagi ng delegasyon ng Pilipinas sa Summit, ay nasiyahan sa ipinakita ni Marcos sa Summit.

“You could see GMA there literally cheering him on and we would see how delighted she was with his performance and the crowd itself was applauding our President for his very, very clear cut answers, and very incisive,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Ayon kay Romualdez pinalakpakan ang Pangulo ng mga business leader sa kanyang sagot kung papaano makukuha ng isang lider ang tiwala ng publiko.

“I always say the best politics is performance because it’s something that cannot be taken away from you and it is something that actually makes a difference in people’s lives,” sagot ng Pangulo sa question-and-answer portion ng APEC Summit.

Dagdag pa ng Pangulo, “Perform and you will get back the trust of the people and that is what we all politicians [do] and I’m sure even people from the business side… that is what we strive for.”

Mababakas umano ang ginawang paghahanda ng Pangulo batay sa ipinakita nito sa Summit.

“So he comes to these summits, these conferences very very well prepared, well-versed on the topics, the issues, and the current events that surround us and that affect us,” sabi ng Speaker.

Nanawagan ang Pangulo ng pagsasama-sama upang matugunan ang mga isyu ng seguridad sa pagkain, global health at climate change.
