Kamara binigyang pagkilala si ex-Speaker Jose de Venecia, Jr.
Para sa natatanging serbisyo sa bayan
PINAGTIBAY ng Kamara de Representantes ang isang resolusyon na nagbibigay pagkilala kay dating Speaker Jose “JDV” C. de Venecia Jr. para sa kanyang natatanging kontribusyon sa bansa.
“Highly accomplished both in the Philippines and abroad, he was awarded numerous decorations and titles from several foreign governments and universities including the Legion of Honor from President Jacques Chirac of France,” nakasaad sa House Resolution (HR) No. 1974, na pinagtibay ng kapulungan noong Agosto 28.
“The Honorable Jose ‘JDV’ De Venecia Jr. dedicated his life to public service, peace-building, and promotion of international cooperation, inspiring leaders, and future generations to pursue excellence in governance and diplomacy,” sabi sa resolusyon.
“Now, therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives, to commend the Honorable Jose C. De Venecia Jr., former Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his distinguished service and significant contributions to the country,” sabi pa sa HR 1974.
Si De Venecia, na kilala sa palayaw na “JDV” sa kanyang mga kapamilya, kaibigan at katrabaho, ay naging kinatawan ng ika-apat na distrito ng Pangasinan sa loob ng pitong taon at ang natatanging miyembro ng Kamara na nagsilbi bilang House Speaker sa loob ng limang taon, partikular noong 9th hanggang 10th, at 12th hanggang 14th Congresses.
“As the Speaker of the House of Representatives, he exemplified outstanding leadership and diplomacy by according each Member of the House of Representatives equal respect and treatment regardless of affiliation,” nakasaad sa resolusyon.
“…Honorable De Venecia was the architect of numerous unification measures in the House of Representatives including the ‘Rainbow Coalition’, which united the country and paved the way for the smooth passage of more than two hundred economic, political, and social reform laws during the administration of President Fidel V. Ramos,” sabi pa dito.
Isa si De Venecia sa mga nagtatag at nagsilbing secretary general, president, chairman at chairman emeritus ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) political party, na nagsilbing dominanteng partido sa Kamara sa loob ng halos 15 taon.
Iniakda nina House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, at Representatives Aurelio D. Gonzales Jr., Manuel Jose M. Dalipe, Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, Jude A. Acidre at Marcelino C. Libanan ang resolusyon.
Isang kahalintulad na resolusyon ang pinagtibay na ng Senado na kumikilala sa makulay niyang karera at hindi matatawarang ambag sa bayan.
