ISANG resolusyon na kumikilala sa mga atletang Pilipino na lumahok sa ika-32 Southeast Asian Games ang pinagtibay ng Kamara de Representantes.

Ang House Resolution 1009 ay akda ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, principal author, at nina Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe, Senior Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos, Minority Leader Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan, at Tingog Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez at Jude Acidre, bilang kanyang co-author.

Ang Pilipinas ay nakasungkit ng 260 medalya sa katatapos na SEA Games– 58 ginto, 85 pilak, at 117 tanso. Ginaganap ang kompetisyon sa Cambodia mula Mayo 5 hanggang 17.

“It is but fitting and proper to congratulate and commend the indomitable spirit and exceptional performance and achievement of the Philippine delegation, including all athletes, coaches, trainers, and support staff for bringing honor and glory to the country through the gold, silver and bronze medals won in the various sports events,” sabi ng mga may-akda.

Kinilala ng mga kongresista ang ipinakitang disiplina, determinasyon, at paghahanda ng mga atleta.

“The top-caliber athletes and coaches displayed their heroism, sporting prowess and unrivaled sportsmanship during the multi-sports event,” sabi sa resolusyon.

Kinilala rin ng mga may-akda ang suportang ibinigay ng gobyerno partikular ang Philippine Sports Commission sa pamumuno ni Chairperson Richard Bachmann, at Philippine Olympic Committee sa pangunguna ni dating Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bamboo” Tolentino, at mga pribadong organisasyon at indibidwal na tumulong sa mga atleta.

Nagtapos ang Pilipinas sa SEAG sa ikalimang puwesto.

Bukod sa Pilipinas lumahok sa SEAG ang Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Timor-Leste, at Vietnam. Mahigit 6,200 ang atletang sumali sa iba’t ibang larangan.
