MAGHAHAIN ang Kamara de Representantes ng karagdagang impormasyon alinsunod sa utos ng Korte Suprema kaugnay ng impeachment case na inihain laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, ayon kay House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante.

Kumpirmado ni Abante nitong Biyernes na opisyal ng natanggap ng Kamara ang kopya ng resolusyon ng Korte Suprema na may petsang Hulyo 8 para sa G.R. Nos. 278353 at 278359, na sumasaklaw sa mga petisyong inihain ni Duterte at ni Atty. Israelito Torreon, na kumukuwestiyon sa pagiging konstitusyunal ng impeachment proceedings.

“The House of Representatives and Secretary-General Reginald S. Velasco, as respondents in the said petitions, have been required to submit the additional information enumerated in the resolution, and will comply accordingly,” ani Abante.

Dagdag pa niya, inirefer na ang usapin sa Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), na kumakatawan sa Kamara sa kaso.

“We have already referred the resolution to the Office of the Solicitor General, as our counsel, and shall coordinate closely with the OSG to ensure the submission of the required information within the non-extendible period of 10 days provided by the Supreme Court,” aniya.

Sa nasabing resolusyon, inatasan ng SC ang Kamara at Senado na magsumite, sa ilalim ng panunumpa at kalakip ang mga dokumentong maaaring isumite, ng detalyadong impormasyon ukol sa paghahain at pagproseso ng mga reklamong impeachment laban kay Duterte.

Binigyang-diin ng mataas na hukuman na ang kautusan ay inilabas “without prejudice to the resolution of other issues” na binanggit sa mga petisyon.

Inimpeach ng Kamara si Pangalawang Pangulo Duterte noong Pebrero dahil sa ilang batayan, kabilang na ang umano’y maling paggamit ng P125 milyong confidential funds na naubos umano sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong Disyembre 2022.

Sa kabuuan, kinuwestiyon ng reklamo ang pamamahala niya sa P612.5 milyong halaga ng confidential funds para sa Office of the Vice President at Department of Education.

Inaprubahan ng Kamara ang pitong Articles of Impeachment, kabilang ang mga kasong betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution, grave abuse of discretion, obstruction of legislative oversight, at repeated misuse of public funds.

Ang mga artikulo ay inendorso ng 215 miyembro ng Kamara, na higit sa kinakailangang one-third na itinakda sa Konstitusyon.

Nag-convene bilang impeachment court ang Senado noong nakaraang buwan pero wala pang paglilitis na isinasagawa.
