PRAYORIDAD ng Kamara de Representantes na mapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga bata.

Ito ang binigyan ng diin ni Speaker Martin G. Romualdez sa selebrasyon ng 30th National Children’s Month kung saan sinabi nito na mayroong 15 panukala na nakabinbin sa Kamara na naglalayong proteksyunan ang kapakanan at kalusugan ng mga bata.

“… Let me state that the House of Representatives considers the State’s role as parens patriae very seriously. We recognize that a child’s health – indeed every person’s health – has many dimensions,” ani Romualdez.

“Suffice it to say that your House of Representatives stands united with those who seek to ensure that our children’s physical, emotional and mental health are sufficiently protected and secured,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na ang House Committee on the Welfare of Children na pinamumunuan ni BHW Party-list Rep. Angelica Natasha Co ang magtataguyod sa mga panukalang ito.

Ang naturang komite ay pinamunuan ni Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez noong nakaraang Kongreso.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na mayroong mga hamon na hindi basta malalagpasan ng mga bata.

“The world has changed. Between social media and the COVID-19 pandemic, the world we once knew is no longer the world we live in now … These societal changes come with their own challenges. While many adults can say that they have the wherewithal to overcome these challenges, the same cannot be said of our children,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Bukod sa pagsusulong ng mga panukala para sa pagbabakuna sa mga bata at feeding program sa mga paaralan, tutukan ng Kamara ang mga panukala laban sa pang-aabuso sa mga bata at ang pagbibigay ng suporta sa kanilang mental health.

Mahalaga umano na mapangalagaan ang mga bata na siyang magiging hinaharap ng ating bansa.
