May tatlong taong fixed term sa AFP nilimitahan
NILIMITAHAN ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang mga opisyal ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na bibigyan ng tatlong taong termino.
Sa botong 251 pabor at tatlong tutol, inaprubahan ng Kamara ang House Bill 6517 na inakda ni Speaker Martin G. Romualdez at Iloilo Rep. Raul Tupas, ang c chairperson ng House committee on national defense and security.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na naiintindihan nito ang mga hinaing ng mga miyembro ng AFP kaya ipinanukala nito ang pag-amyenda sa batas.
“I understand them and they are all valid. I had discussed these with the House leadership and the committee on national defense and security and the bill is our way of addressing the concerns of our officers and enlisted personnel in the AFP,” ani Romualdez.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, ang bibigyan ng tatlong taong termino ay ang chief of staff, commanding general ng Army, commanding general ng Air Force, at flag-officer-in-command ng Navy.
Maaari namang hindi makompleto ang tatlong taong termino kung nanaisin ng Pangulo na palitan ito.
Aamyendahan ng panukala ang Republic Act (RA) No. 11709 kung saan kasama sa binibigyan ng tatlong taong termino ang vice chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, unified command commanders, at inspector general.
Hindi na rin maaaring i-promote bilang brigadier general/commodore ang isang opisyal kung magreretiro na ito sa loob ng anim na buwan.
Itinatakda rin ng panukala ang compulsory retirement age ng brigadier
general/commodore sa 57, major general/rear admiral sa 58 at lieutenant general/vice admiral sa 59.
