NAGPAHAYAG ng suporta sa panukalang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) ang mga kongresista mula sa magkakaibang partido politikal.

Naniniwala ang mga kongresista na malaki ang maitutulong ng MIF upang magkaroon ng dagdag na kita ang gobyerno na magagamit nito sa pagseserbisyo sa mga Pilipino.

Ayon kay Deputy Speaker at Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. na suportado nito ang panukala na isinusulong ni Speaker Martin G. Romualdez upang gamitin ang mga nakatabing pondo upang kumita ito ng mas malaki.

“We are all for the MIF proposal of the Speaker. The objective of maximizing or optimizing gains from the investment of excess state funds or assets is laudable. That is what every nation on this planet would want to do,” sabi ni Gonzales na miyembro ng PDP-Laban.

Pinawi naman ni San Jose del Monte City Rep. Florida “Rida” P. Robes, isa ring miyembro ng PDP-Laban, ang pangamba ng ilan na baka masayang lamang ang pondo.

Sinabi ni Robes na mayroong inilagay na mga safeguard sa panukala upang matiyak na hindi ito maaabuso at mauuwi sa korupsyon.

“The proposal of Speaker Martin will be a big help to our country and to every Filipino,” sabi ni Robes.

Nakikita naman ni Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga, isa sa mga lider ng Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), ang kahalagahan ng MIF.

“This proposal has become contentious, but it is important to recognize that the country needs the MIF to fund its needs,” sabi ni Enverga. “So we see the importance of this measure, and we support it, particularly for the reason that it will increase national revenues.”

Gaya ng 49 bansa na mayroong sovereign wealth fund, naniniwala si Romblon Lone District Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona na kikita rin dito ang Pilipinas. Si Madrona ay miyembro ng Nacionalista Party.

“Napakalaki ng benepisyong maibibigay ng Maharlika Fund kaya ako ay sumusuporta dito. Lalo na kaming mga pulubing mga probinsya, kami ang makaka-benefit n’yan kasi alam mo naman kapag pulubi ang mga probinsya hindi nabibigyang halaga ng mga investments at siguro nakikita natin ngayon marami lang kumokontra dito sa Maharlika Investment Fund kasi karamihan sa kanila hindi pa nila nababasa yung kabuuan ng proposed bill,” sabi ni Madrona. “Our only intention really is to make our country prosperous because of this investment.”

Ayon naman kay Quezon City Rep. Marvin Rillo, miyembro ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, maraming mapupulot na magandang bagay ang Pilipinas sa sovereign wealth fund na ginamit ng ibang bansa.

Kinilala naman ni Rep. Margarita Ignacia Nograles ng PBA party-list ang pakikinig ni Speaker Romualdez sa suhestyon ng publiko upang mas mapaganda pa ang panukala at maalis ang agam-agam dito ng publiko.

“The most important of these are the penalty clauses or provisions. We want to avoid possible graft and corruption and scandals, which the public is afraid of. So we want the penalties to be at par with those contained in the Corporation Code,” ani Nograles.

Maganda rin umano na ilalagak ang 20 porsyenton ng kita sa MIF sa social projects, sabi pa ni Nograles.

Kahit na miyembro ng oposisyon, sumuporta naman si Northern Samar Rep. Paul Daza sa panukala matapos na ipasok umano roon ang maraming rekomendasyon para mas mapaganda ito.

“It’s now a much better bill and I can see the effort of the authors and the proponents. So it’s been a good two weeks na pinaganda po natin itong bill. So it looks good at this point…and it looks much better,” ayon kay Daza.

Sa utos ni Speaker Romualdez, inalis ng House committee on appropriations ang Social Security System at Government Service Insurance System bilang mga contributor ng MIF.
