PINURI ng mga miyembro ng Kamara de Representantes ang resulta ng survey ng OCTA Research na nagsasabi na 77% ng mga Pilipino ang handang ipagtanggol ang Pilipinas laban sa kaaway nitong dayuhan, sa gitna ng tensyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“I’m very happy with 77%, although I’ll be static when if it’s a 100%. It shows indeed that nationalism and patriotism among Filipinos is still very strong,” ani Deputy Speaker David “Jay-jay” Suarez sa isang press conference.

Iginiit ni Suarez ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaisa sa pagtatanggol sa bansa lalo at nahaharap umano ang bansa sa isyu ng agawan ng teritoryo sa WPS, at ang pagpasok ng mga Chinese vessel sa Benham Rise.

“All of us have to realize that we all have to play our part as well, especially on what’s happening on the WPS and pati dito sa Benham Rise, and nakikita po natin na very aggressive iyong ginagawang maritime exercises at maneuvers ng China,” dagdag pa ni Suarez.

Pinuri rin ni 1-RIDER Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez ang resulta ng survey.

“I would say it’s very reassuring, in spite of all the challenges that we’ve had, from external man such as ‘yung challenges natin dito sa [WPS] or internal, such as ‘yung alleged destabilization, or doon sa ating Mindanao secession,” ani Gutierrez.

“It’s good to see that we still have one united image of one united country, ‘yung our nation undivided nakikita po ‘yan. It speaks of itself in the people na sila mismo willing to defend this country,” dagdag pa nito.

Para naman kay Cagayan de Oro City 1st District Rep. Lordan Suan hindi na nakakagulat ang mataas na bilang ng mga Pilipino na handang ipagtanggol ang bansa laban sa kaaway nito.

“Even though we might joke around, try to maintain a straight face in the face of adversity, the blood of heroes runs through our veins,” sabi ni Suan.

“The very high number of respondents who said that they are willing to defend our country only goes to show that nationalism and patriotism is still very much alive in Filipinos.”

“Even when we are faced with an impossible task, we don’t even think, we just do our nobility. Our drive to defend our country, our sovereignty, our territory is always there,” dagdag pa ni Suan.

Sa isinagawang Tugon ng Masa survey ng OCTA noong Disyembre 10 hanggang 14, lumabas na 77 porsyento ng mga Pilipino ang nagsabi na handa sila na ipaglaban ang bansa.

Kinuha sa survey ang opinyon ng 1,200 respondents na edad 18 pataas. Ang survey ay mayroong ±3% margin of error at 95 porsyentong confidence level.
