KINONDENA ng Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) ang pagkuha ng isang tauhan ng Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Security Screening Officers (SSO) sa relo na naiwan ng isang Chinese sa x-ray area ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

“We strongly condemn such unscrupulous, illicit and selfish acts. Theft violates the trust and integrity required of public servants, and has serious negative consequences for the airport, its stakeholders, and the country as a whole,” sabi ni MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong.

Nagpasalamat naman si Chiong sa maagap na aksyon ng Airport Police Department (APD), Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP), at pamunuan ng OTS sa maagap na pagtugon sa insidente at pag-aresto sa suspek.

Dumaan umano sa security screening checkpoint ng NAIA Terminal 1 ang Chinese alas-2:30 ng umaga noong Marso 1. Hindi umano nito nakuha ang kanyang relo na nakita ng suspek.

Sa halip na kunin ay tinakpan umano ang relo.

Noong Pebrero 22 ay nakuhanan naman ng cellphone video ang mga tauhan ng OTS SSO na kumuha sa pera ng isang pasaherong Thai sa security screening ng NAIA Terminal 2.

“Even though these people manning the screening areas are employees of the OTS and not of the MIAA, they still operate in NAIA which we administer. It happened under our roof, so it is critical that we resolve these issues so as not to cause alarm among passengers and affect their confidence to travel to the Philippines. More importantly, it negates all efforts of the MIAA to improve the image of NAIA,” sabi pa ni Chiong.

Dinagdagan na ang MIAA ang mga CCTV camera malapit sa screening machine at inalis ang film sa glass panel upang mas makita ang nasa kabila nito.

Pinag-aaralan na rin ng MIAA ang pagdaragdag pa ng mga CCTV camera upang mawala ang blind sport sa lahat ng terminal.
