MPBL: Rizal ginulat ang San Juan
GINULAT ng Rizal Xentromall ang dating walang talong San Juan, 104-100, sa triple overtime sa MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Sixth Season sa FilOil Flying V Centre sa San Juan.
Umiskor si Alwin Alday ng game-high 27 points, kabilang na ang dalawang pressure-packed free throws sa huling 6.4 seconds, para tuluyang maitakas ng Rizal ang kapanapanabik na panalo sa 29-team, two-division tournament.
Sa kabuuan, si Alday ay may five assists, four rebounds at four steals sa higit 46 minutes na aksyon para sa Rizal, na umakyat sa 8-4 win-loss record.
Nakatuwang ni Alday sina Kraniel Villoria, na may 24 points, 10 assists, three rebounds at two steals; Keith Agovida, na may 18 points, seven rebounds at two assists; at homegrown star Jerie Pingoy, na may 12 points, six assists, two rebounds at two steals.
Napili si Jinggoy na “]Best Player of the Game.”
Nanguna naman para sa San Juan sina Dexter Maiquez, na may double-double na 21 points at 11 rebounds, Orlando Wamar, na may 19 points, at Reynel Hugnatan, na may 11 points, six rebounds at three assists.
Gayunman, nalasap ng Knights ang kanilang unang talo matapos ang siyam na sunod na panalo.
Sa ibang mga laro, naungusan ng Valenzuela Classics ang Pasay Voyagers, 86-85. at binigo ng Marikina Shoemasters ang Bulacan Kuyas, 95-91.
Ang MPBL, na itinuturing na “Liga ng Bawat Pilipino” ay itinataguyod ni Sen. Manny Pacquiao sa tulong ni Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes.
