UNDER negotiation umano ang 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.

Sa kanyang pagpunta sa Kadiwa ng Pasko project sa Quezon City, natanong si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kaugnay ng kasunduan ng Pilipinas at Amerika.

“Well, the Mutual Defense Treaty is continuously under negotiation and under evolution. I always call it it’s an evolution because things are changing,” sabi ni Marcos.

Ayon kay Marcos mayroong mga hiling at panukala ang gobyerno ng Amerika kaugnay ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) at pinag-aaralan ito ng gobyerno.

“So all of that is under study now to see what is really feasible and what will be the most useful for the defense of Philippine territory,” sabi ng Pangulo.

Kabilang umano ang security at defense sa napag-usapan nila ni US Vice President Kamala Harris na bumisita sa bansa noong nakaraang linggo.

“Yes, we covered that and many more subjects. But essentially, on the security, ‘yun tinitingnan natin ‘yung kanilang pino-propose, ‘yung mga joint exercises, and EDCA, the use of our bases, all of these. We are in the middle of that,” ani Marcos.
