Napili si Newsome bilang PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week sa ika-dalawang sunod na pagkakataon matapos pangunahan ang Meralco sa elimination round ng PBA Philippine Cup.

Nagtala si Newsome ng16 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, at one steal sa 82-73 panalo ng Meralco kontra Barangay Ginebra nung Biyernes upang masungkit ang karangalan para sa period na May 28 hanggang June 1.

Si Jayson Castro ng TNT ang kauna-unahang back-to-back PBAPC Player of the Week honors nung August 3-7 at August 10- 14 para sa 2022 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

Dahil sa mahusay na mga laro ni Newsome, nagtala ng tatlong dikit na panalo ang Bolts para sa 6-5 kartada sa elimibation round.

“Coming into this game, we really wanted to make sure that our destiny is in our hands and we didn’t want to leave it up to somebody else,” pahayag ni Newsome, na nanalo kontra Adrian Nocum ng Rain or Shine, Almond Vosotros ng TNT, at Javee Mocon of NLEX para sa weekly award.

“We want to really come out and play playoff atmosphere type of basketball and that’s what we saw. It was a classic Ginebra-Meralco game but for us, it’s really about getting through our lows. We really had deep lows this conference, and we just wanted to get through those, stay together, and come out and battle all the way through because you never know what could happen,” dagdag pa ni Newsome.
