Pag-angkat ng asin ng PH dapat baguhin—Speaker Romualdez
SA lawak ng dagat na nakapaligid sa Pilipinas, hindi umano makatwiran na 93% ng asin na kailangan ng bansa ay imported.
Kaya naman sinusugan ng Kamara de Representantes sa pamumuno ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang pagpasa ng House Bill (HB) No. 8278, o ang panukalang Philippine Salt Industry Development Act.
“The significance of the salt industry hasn’t been lost on our President and concurrent Department of Agriculture (DA) chief Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. He knows that we need to correct the sad irony that the country imports nearly 550,000 metric tons (MT) or 93 percent of its requirement for salt. This is indeed a sin,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
Ang HB 8278 ay inaprubahan ng Kamara sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa sa botong 287-0.
Ilan sa mga may-akda ng panukala ay sina Reps. Ron Salo, Ramon Guico Jr., Wilbert Lee, Midy Cua, Gus Tambunting, at LRay Villafuerte.
Sa ilalim ng panukala ay itatayo ang Philippine Salt Industry Development Council (PSIDC) na siyang magpapatupad ng roadmap upang mapa-unlad ang lokal na industriya ng asin.
Inililipat din ang industriya sa ilalim ng Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) mula sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
