TATLONG buwan bago ang pinakahihintay na selebrasyon ng Pasko, inaprubahan ng Kamara de Representantes sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang panukala para ideklara ang Pampanga bilang Christmas Capital of the country.

Sa botong 250-0 at walang abstention ay inaprubahan ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang House Bill (HB) No. 6933 na pangunahing iniakda ni Senior Deputy Majority Leader at Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” D. Gonzales, Jr.

“The Christmas season here in the Philippines is made extra special every year by the kapampangans who take pride in their famous and vibrant tradition of lantern-making,” sabi ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez

“Their excellent craftsmanship to honor the birth of Jesus Christ surely contributed to the robustness of the local economy and the promotion of the province as a cultural tourism destination. It is only fitting that we formalize Pampanga’s legacy as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines now, as it continues to brighten the season of giving each year,” saad naman ni Gonzales

Salig sa Section 2 ng panukala na inaatasan ang Department of Tourism na isama at isulong ang lalawigan bilang Christmas Capital sa mga promotional programs nito.
