SUMALI na ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa paghahanap kay dating presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na ipinaaaresto matapos ma-cite in contempt ng quad committee ng Kamara de Representantes, dahil nabigong isumite ang mga dokumento kaugnay ng kanyang yaman na iniuugnay sa operasyon ng iligal na Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO).

Hindi tinupad ni Roque ang pangako nito na isusumite ang mga dokumento, at hindi na rin dumalo sa pagdinig ng quad committee.

Noong Biyernes ay pinuntahan ng otoridad ang law firm ni Roque sa Antel Corporation Centre sa Makati City upang isilbi ang arrest warrant subalit hindi ito tinanggap ng kanyang staff. Hindi rin nakita sa lugar si Roque.

“The PNP is now fully engaged in the manhunt for Atty. Harry Roque, and we are coordinating closely with the National Capital Region Police Office and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to ensure his swift apprehension,” ani Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez, co-chair ng quad committee.

“No one is above the law, and we will not tolerate anyone defying the authority of Congress or evading accountability,” dagdag pa ni Fernandez na chairman ng House committee on public order and safety.

Na-cite in contempt si Roque matapos na hindi makapagsumite ng kopya ng kanyang mga Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, rekord ng Biancham Holdings na pagmamay-ari ng kanyang pamilya, at ang mga patunay ng bentahan ng ari-arian sa Parañaque City na kanyang sinabi na pinanggalingan ng biglaang paglobo ng kanyang yaman.

Matapos ma-cite in contempt, naglabas ng arrest order ang komite laban kay Roque.

“This kind of defiance cannot be taken lightly, as it underscores the seriousness of the allegations against him. We will pursue this matter through all available legal avenues until justice is served,” sabi ni Fernandez.

“No one is above the law. The public deserves transparency and accountability, especially in cases involving serious financial and legal concerns. Atty. Roque’s continued evasion only raises more questions about his role in the POGO controversy,” dagdag pa nito.

Sinabi ni Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chairman ng House committee on dangerous drugs, na mayroong mga ebidensya na naguugnay kay Roque sa iligal na POGO.

Ang hindi umano pakikipagtulungan ni Roque sa quad committee ay nagpapatindi lamang sa alegasyon na mayroon itong itinatago at totoong may kaugnayan ito sa operasyon ng iligal na POGO.

“Mr. Roque has been evasive, and his actions suggest that he is unwilling to face accountability,” sabi ni Barbers. “The public deserves transparency, especially in matters involving significant legal and financial questions.”

Nauna rito, inakusahan ni Roque ang quad committee na isang “kangaroo court” at inanunsyo na hindi na ito makikipagtulungan dito.

Hinamon ni Barbers si Roque na humarap sa pagdinig sa halip na sa social media sumagot.

“If Mr. Roque believes the court is unjust, then let him face it and prove his case. Social media pronouncements won’t justify his defiance of the law,” sabi ni Barbers.

Ang pagtulong ng PNP sa paghahanap kay Roque ay pagpapakita umano na seryoso ang imbestigasyong isinasagawa ng quad committee.

Hinimok ang publiko na tumulong sa paghahanap kay Roque.

Matatandaan na inamin ni Roque na sinamahan nito si Katherine Cassandra Ong sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) upang ayusin ang problema ng Lucky South 99 POGO hub.

Itinanggi naman ni Roque na siya ay abogado ng Lucky South 99 na ni-raid ng otoridad kamakailan.
