HINIHINTAY ng House of Representatives ang desisyon ng Supreme Court’s sa Motion for Reconsideration (MR) ukol sa impeachment ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Sinabi ni Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry L. Ridon, chair of the House Public Accounts Committee and member of the House Justice Committee, na handa na kumilos ang Kongreso sa sandaling lumabas ang final ruling.

“We urge the Supreme Court to decide on the matter with finality, in order for constitutional bodies such as the House and the Senate, as well as the public, to determine their next course of action on public officers who may only be removed through impeachment,” sabi ni Ridon.

“Only after the Supreme Court resolves the MR can the House directly look into impeachable acts of the Vice President. If the MR is resolved in favor of the House, the impeachment will proceed to trial in the Senate. If resolved against the House, a new complaint may be filed against the Vice President in February, under the new Supreme Court impeachment guidelines,” dagdag ni Ridon.

Ayon kay Ridon, fairness, at hindi pulitika ang basehan nila sa impeachment.

“It bears stressing that impeachment proceedings are based on facts, evidence, and principle.

The House will proceed against each and every impeachable officer if they commit impeachable offenses such as betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, and other high crimes, among other grounds for impeachment as stated in the 1987 Constitution,” sabi ng kongresista.

“The House of Representatives will perform its constitutional mandate on impeachment against any and all impeachable officers, as soon as verified impeachment complaints are filed for our resolution,” sabi ni Ridon.
