BAGO pa man matapos ang 90 araw na extension ng SIM registration, sinabi ng Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) na unti-unti ng babawasan ang mga serbisyo sa mga SIM card na hindi pa nairerehistro.

Ito ang sinabi ni DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy matapos aprubahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pagpapalawig ng SIM Registration ng 90 araw.

“We are exploring some options that will be available to us [to] incentivize our public to register,” ani Uy. “We did not put those conditions in the first SIM card registration but because of our observation that people are not taking our deadline seriously, we are now exploring other options to incentivize registration.”

Nakikipag-ugnayan na umano ang DICT sa mga telecommunication company kaugnay nito.

“We will observe the rate of registration and after a certain period, we’re seeing maybe 30 days or 60 days into registration, we will start deactivating some services on the SIM card,” sabi pa ng kalihim.

Inihalimbawa ni Uy ang pag-alis ng serbisyo ng Facebook o Tiktok kapag hindi pa rin nakairerehistro matapos ang 60 araw. Kapag pinatagal pa ay maaari umanong na ang alisin naman ay ang tawag o text hanggang sa tuluyan na itong ma-deactivate makalipas ang 90 araw na deadline.

Sa Abril 26 sana magtatapos ang SIM registration.

Nasa 82 milyong SIM na ang nairehistro o 49.31 porsyento ng mga aktibong SIM card.
