IKINABAHALA ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang napa-ulat na pagsasagawa ng pananaliksik ng mga sasakyang pangdagat ng China sa Philippine Rise, na nasa loob ng exclusive economic zone (EZZ) ng Pilipinas.

Iginiit ni Speaker Romualdez na ang Philippine Rise ay bahagi ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas at anumang hindi awtorisadong pagpasok at aktibidad ng mga dayuhang ay itinuturing na paglabag sa soberanya ng bansa.

“The Philippines will not compromise its territorial integrity or allow any encroachment upon its sovereign rights. Philippine Rise is unquestionably within our EZZ, and we will assert our authority to safeguard our maritime domain,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

Iginiit pa ng pinuno ng Kamara ang kahalagahan ng Philippine Rise sa ekolohiya at pang-ekonomiya ng bansa.

“The Philippine Rise is a vital marine resource rich in biodiversity and potential for scientific research, as well as economic opportunities for our country. We must protect and harness its full potential for the benefit of the Filipino people,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Binanggit pa ng mambabatas na ang pananatili ng mga barko ng China na umano’y nagsasagawa ng pananaliksik sa Philippine Rise ay walang pahintulot, at dapat na sumunod sa international protocol.

“We call on all nations to respect the rights of coastal states, uphold the principles of international law, and refrain from any activities that undermine regional stability and maritime security,” dagdag pa Romualdez.

Inihayag naman ng pinuno ng Kamara na tiwala ito sa pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa pagtatanggol nito sa interes ng Pilipinas at ang pagpapatupad sa batas sa buong rehiyon.

“The Philippine government remains steadfast in its duty to protect our sovereignty and preserve our national interest. We will work closely with relevant agencies to address this issue effectively and assert our rights within the bounds of international law,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Tiniyak din ng mambabatas ang paninindigan ng bansa na pangalagaan ang teritoryo nito at ang pagtatanggol sa karapatan ng pag-aari ng bansa laban sa mga hindi awtorisadong aktibidad ng mga dayuhang barko sa loob ng EZZ.

“The Philippines will not back down or yield an inch of its territory. We will continue to assert our rights over the Philippine Rise and any other maritime areas that belong to us under international law,” giit pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
