KINILALA at pinuri ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang delegasyon ng Pilipinas sa kanilang hindi matatawarang performance sa katatapos na 19th Asian Games na ginanap sa Hangzhou, China.

“The achievements of the Philippine delegation, including securing medals and setting new records, demonstrate the dedication, hard work, and excellence of our athletes. Their success is a testament to the resilience and talent of Filipino sportsmen and sportswomen,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Muli ring inulit ni Speaker Romualdez ang pangako nitong susuportahan ang paglinang sa sports ng bansa upang mas marami pang tagumpay na marating ang mga atletang Pilipino.

“Sports has the power to unite a nation, and our athletes have certainly united us through their outstanding achievements. I am committed to furthering sports development in the Philippines to nurture future champions,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

“The 19th Asian Games have once again showcased the country’s potential as a competitive force in international sports. I am confident that this success will inspire future generations of Filipino athletes,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara na may mahigit 300 miyembro.

Nakasungkit ng apat na gintong medalya ang Pilipinas sa 19th Asian Games na nakuha nina pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, jiu-jitsu martial artists Meggie Ochoa at Annie Ramirez, at Gilas Pilipinas.

Kapwa naman nakakuha ng silver medal ang boxer na si Eumir Marcial at ang Wushu sanda fighter na si Arnel Mandal.

Labingdalawang bronze medal naman ang iniuwi nina Patrick King Perez ng Taekwondo men’s individual poomsa; Jones Llabres Inso sa Wushu all-around; Gideon Fred Padua sa Wushu men’s 60kg; Clemente Tabugara Jr. sa Wushu men’s 65kg; Alexandra Eala sa tennis women’s singles; Alexandra Eala at Francis Casey Alcantara sa tennis mixed doubles; Patrick Bren Coo sa men’s cycling BMX racing; Elreen Ann Ando sa weightlifting women’s 64kg; Rheyjey Ortouste, Jason Huerte, Vince Torno, Mark Joseph Gonzales, Ronsited Gabayeron at Jom Lerry Rafael sa sepak takraw men’s quadrant; Sakura Alforte sa karate women’s individual kata; Jenna Kaila Napolis sa jiu-jitsu women’s -52kg; at Rheyjey Ortouste, Jason Huerte, Mark Joseph Gonzales, Ronsited Gabayeron, at Jom Lerry Rafael sa sepak takraw men’s regu.

Ang Pilipinas ay nagtapos sa 16th place mas mataas sa 18th place na nakuha nito sa Asian Games na ginanap sa Jakarta limang taon na ang nakakaraan.

Nagpasalamat din si Speaker Romualdez sa iba pang miyembro ng delegasyon, support team at mga indibidwal at organisasyon na tumulong upang maitaas ang bandila ng bansa.

“This success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our athletes and the support team behind them. We thank each member of the delegation for their commitment to excellence,” sabi pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Kinilala rin ni Speaker Romualdez ang malaking papel na ginampanan ng business sector at mga pribadong organisasyon at indibidwal sa pagsuporta sa delegasyon.

“We also express our deepest gratitude to the business sector, private organizations, and individuals who rallied behind our athletes. Your support has been invaluable in helping them achieve their goals,” sabi nito.

Nagpasalamat din si Speaker Romualdez sa mga opisyal ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) dahil sa kanilang pagpupunyagi para sa sports ng bansa.

“Our officials from the POC and PSE have played a pivotal role in guiding our athletes. Their leadership and support have been instrumental in the preparation and participation of our athletes in international competitions,” dagdag pa ni Speaker.
