SUPORTADO ni Speaker Martin G Romualdez ang rekomendasyon ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) na magdeklara ng state of calamity upang matugunan ang pinsalang dulot ng bagyong Paeng.

“Reports reaching my office indicate that almost all regions in the country were affected by the onslaught of STS Paeng, which destroyed bridges, roads and key infrastructure and wrought havoc to life and property,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Umapela rin si Romualdez sa mga miyembro ng Kamara de Representantes na tumulong sa mga nasalanta upang maibsan ang paghihirap ng mga nasalanta at agad na makabangon ang mga ito.

“At the moment, our focus is in relief operations to alleviate the suffering of our fellowmen and to deliver aid as soon as possible to those in need. We have launched a relief drive and operations in the House of Representatives to help the national government secure the resources needed in affected communities,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Ayon kay Romualdez kinausap na nito si Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, chairperson ng House Committee on Appropriations upang mangalap ng impormasyon kaugnay ng pinsala ng bagyo at makagawa ng kinakailangang pagbabago sa naipasang panukalang 2023 national budget upang matugunan ang mga ito.

“The House of Representatives will also use its power over the purse to see to it that rehabilitation of affected communities will proceed unhampered as soon as the relief stage is completed.],” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.
