TINIYAK ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang suporta ng Kamara de Representantes upang maging malakas, moderno, may sapat na kagamitan, at napapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga sundalo na siyang nagtatanggol sa bansa.

Ginawa ni Speaker Romualdez ang pagtiyak ng suporta ng Kamara sa pagdalo nito sa Armed Forces of the Philippines-House of Representatives fellowship na ginanap sa 4th Infantry Division Headquarters sa Cagayan de Oro City.

Nakasama ni Speaker Romualdez sa event ang ilang kongresista at mga opisyal ng Armed Forces of the Philippines sa pangunguna ng Chief of Staff na si Gen. Romeo Brawner.

Ayon sa lider ng Kamara, tumaas na sa P285 bilyon ang pondo ngayong taon para sa defense sector kasama na ang P1.23 bilyong dagdag para maipagtanggol ang teritoryo ng bansa partikular sa West Philippine Sea.

Nadagdagan din umano ng P300 milyon ang budget ng National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, P100 milyon naman ang National Security Council at P381.3 milyon sa Department of Transportation para sa pagpapalaki ng airport sa Pag-asa Island sa West Philippine Sea.

“Our dedication extends beyond financial support. Recognizing the importance of high morale, we passed House Bill 8969, creating a sustainable fiscal framework for military pensions. This, along with various initiatives such as House Bills 6517, 11, 7764, and 6375, demonstrates our commitment to enhancing our military’s capabilities and welfare,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sinabi ng lider ng Kamara na ang mga hakbang na ito ay naglalayon na tiyakin na may kakayanan ang AFP upang maipagtanggol ang bansa.

“These actions reflect our unwavering commitment to national security, territorial integrity, and the well-being of our soldiers. The true strength of our defense lies not just in our modernized assets but in the valor of our personnel,” saad pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na mayroon ding mga hakbang ang Kongreso na naglalayong pangalagaan ang mga sundalo at kanilang pamilya gaya ng pagpapataas ng sahod at healthcare benefits, housing at educational programs, at pag-apruba ng MUP (Military and Uniformed Personnel) Pension System Act upang matiyak na maibibigay ang benepisyo ng mga unipormadong tauhan ng AFP.

“Our collective efforts symbolize a strong, well-equipped, and cared-for military, ready to uphold our sovereignty with honor and integrity. Let us continue to work together for a free, united, peaceful, and progressive Philippines,” wika pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

“The steadfastness of our uniformed personnel, in protecting our territorial integrity and remaining non-partisan amidst political noise, is truly commendable. Your unwavering duty as sentinels of our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea and beyond is a stabilizing force for our nation,” dagdag pa nito.

Pinasalamatan din ni Speaker Romualdez si General Brawner at ang organizer ng HOR-AFP fellowships, gayundin ang mga miyembro ng Kamara at mga sundalo na lumahok sa event.

“Such gatherings are crucial for fostering civility, courtesy, and deeper personal connections, which are essential in understanding each other better,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.
