Tagalog course sa Harvard pride ng mga Pinoy—Speaker Romualdez
‘GREAT national pride’ kung ituring ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang pagkakaroon ng Tagalog course sa Harvard University.
“Our language is our pride! And learning about Harvard’s new Tagalog language course, I am expressing my full support for the program. I hope and pray that the Harvard Tagalog course will flourish and grow in the future to include many aspects of Filipino culture!” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez sa kanyang pakikipag-usap sa mga estudyante sa pagtitipon ng Filipino community sa Massachusetts.
Si Speaker Romualdez ay nagtalumpati sa John F. Kennedy School of Government ng Harvard University sa Boston, Massachusetts kaugnay ng pagpapalakas ng relasyon ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.
“The teaching of Tagalog at Harvard University is a source of great national pride. The university is one of the top academic institutions in the world, if not the best. Its programs are emulated or duplicated in other institutions of higher learning. Kaya naman proud na proud tayo sa development na ito,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
Kilala ang Harvard sa buong mundo at dito nag-aral ang walong naging Pangulo ng Estados Unidos.
Kamakailan lamang nagdesisyon ang Harvard na magkaroon ng Tagalog course kasabay ng kurso sa Bahasa Indonesia at Thai, ayon sa student paper na Harvard Crimson.
“We express our gratitude to Harvard University for recognizing the need to teach the Filipino language to those interested to learn about our rich and diverse culture. Once again, our country is in the spotlight of the world stage, and I have never been so proud to be a Filipino,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
Ang Tagalog ang ika-apat na pinakaginagamit na salita sa Estados Unidos kung saan mayroong 4.2 milyong Filipino-American.
