NANAWAGAN si House Assistant Majority Leader Jay Khonghun sa mga senador na magsisilbing hukom sa impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte na pag-isipan mabuti ang bigat ng mga alegasyon.

Tanong pa ni Khonghun: “Is it okay to hire an assassin to kill your wife or husband?”

“If a government official orchestrated a plot to assassinate the President, First Lady, and the Speaker of the House, and if someone made the same threat against your own families, how would you respond?” ayon pa sa kongresista.

“This is the question senators must ask themselves as they fulfill their duty under the Constitution to try VP Duterte,” pahayag niya.

Ang banta ng pagpatay na ginawa ni Bise Presidente noong Nobyembre 23, 2024, laban kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez—na kanyang sinabi sa isang online press conference na mabilis na kumalat sa social media—ay ang unang alegasyon sa Articles of Impeachment na inihain laban sa Ikalawang Pangulo.

Una ng naghain ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa Department of Justice (DOJ) ng mga kaso laban kay Vice President Duterte para sa grave threats at inciting to sedition kaugnay ng naturang banta.

Ayon kay Khonghun, iniuutos ng Saligang Batas na agad kumilos ang Senado sa mga kasong impeachment, kaya’t mahalagang masimulan na ng impeachment court ang paglilitis sa Bise Presidente.

“This is not just about one person. This is about fidelity to the Constitution, it’s about the sanctity of our institutions, the integrity of our democracy, and the security of the President and of every Filipino,” saad nito.

“We should not allow public officials and former influential leaders to use power to eliminate political rivals and get away with it,” ayon pa sa kongresista.

Kamakailan din ay nagbabala si Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre sa mga senador na habang naaantala ang paglilitis kay Bise Presidente Duterte, lalo lamang lumalaki ang panganib sa buhay nina Pangulong Marcos Jr., Unang Ginang Liza Marcos at Speaker Romualdez.

Sinabi ni Khonghun na handa na ang House prosecution panel na maghain ng matibay na ebidensya laban kay Duterte, na binibigyang-diin na walang sinuman ang nakatataas sa batas.

“The Constitution does not allow us to look away or delay justice. The Filipino people are watching, and history will judge those who stand for accountability and those who choose to enable lawlessness,” wika nito.

Ayon kay Khonghun, kumpiyansa ang prosecution team na sa unang impeachment charge pa lamang ay makukumbinsi na nila ang Senado na hatulan si VP Duterte.

Dagdag pa niya, kabilang sa ebidensyang magpapatibay sa kasong ito ang mga video ng press conference noong Nobyembre 23, 2024, kung saan lantaran at emosyonal na nagbanta si VP Duterte laban kay Pangulong Marcos, Unang Ginang Liza Marcos at Speaker Romualdez.

“So let’s start the trial now. Any dilly-dallying benefits the Vice President and gives her more opportunity to carry out her threats,” pagdidiin pa ni Khonghun.
