CEBU City — Ipinakita nina Artjoy Torregosa of University of San Carlos at Jessie Abelgos ang kanilang galing upang tanghaling overall champions sa Cebu Orthopaedic Institute Run 2024.

Si Torregosa, na naaalala din sa kanyang panalo sa Cebu Marathon nung Enero, ay nagtala ng one hour at six minutes para pangunahan ang 16-km women’s division event.

“I am grateful for my achievements and the support and hard work that made it possible. This competition stands out from my previous ones because I achieved a new personal best time,” pahayag Torregosa, na binigyang puri din ang kanyang coach na si Arvin Loberanis.

Nagpa-sikat din si Abelgos, na nadomina din ang men’s division sa oras na 55 minutes at 36 seconds.

“Grateful for the support and the rush of crossing that finish line. Sending a huge shoutout to my coach Arvin. Your guidance and support have been invaluable in helping me achieve this victory.

Couldn’t have done it without you,” pahayag naman ni Abelgos sa kanyang Facebook post.

Nagpakitang gilas din sina Jhon Marc Dizon, na nanalo sa 12-km men’s caterogy sa oras na 40 minutes at 22 seconds; at Franklin Ferdie Yee, na nagwagi sa 6-km men’s event.

“Sina Franklin (Yee), Jessie (Abelgos) and Jhon Marc (Dizon) are all student-athletes na mataas din ang mga goal katulad ni Arjoy,” paglalahad ni Loberanis.

“Lahat sila gusto makatapos sa pag- aaral and at the same time, mag excel sa larangan ng track n field. Wala po akong masabi sa mga bata na ito kasi very hardworking sila at sumusunud talaga sa mga training program na ibibigay para sa kanil. Humble and respectful silang lahat,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang naturang event ay bahagi ng 25th year anniversary celebration ng Cebu Orthopaedic Institute (COl). With reports from Alona Cochon
