NAGPAPASALAMAT si House Secretary General Reginald “Reggie” S. Velasco sa Senado sa pagbibigay ng silid na magagamit ng House prosecution team sa paghahanda sa isasagawang impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Pumunta si Velasco at ang iba pang opisyal ng Kamara sa gusali ng Senado upang tignan ang mga pasilidad na ilalaan para sa House prosecution team at impeachment secretariat.

Unang binisita ng grupo ni Velasco ang session hall ng Senado, kung saan isasagawa ang impeachment trial, at ipinahayag nila ang kanilang kasiyahan sa setup ng lugar.

“We’re happy to see these facilities of the Senate where the trial will be held. This is exactly the venue where the last impeachment trial was held. This was the time of President PNoy Aquino and then the trial of Chief Justice [Renato] Corona,” ani Velasco sa isang ambush interview.

Binigyang-diin ni Velasco na ang Kamara ay nakikipagtulungan nang malapit sa Senado upang matiyak ang maayos na paghahanda para sa makasaysayang paglilitis.

“This is our first visit here, and we are very happy with the setup. We have no comments, no complaints, but we are happy that the Senate is joining us. We are one in this forthcoming event,” dagdag niya.

Matapos ang inspeksyon sa session hall, nagtungo si Velasco sa Sen. Arturo M. Tolentino Room, na inisyal na itinalaga bilang opisina para sa House prosecution team.

“Nandito kami para tingnan ‘yung mga kwartong ibibigay sa prosecution panel at saka sa Secretariat. Kung magkakaroon na ng trial para ready na ‘yung grupo namin,” aniya.

Sinabi rin ni Velasco na ipinakita sa kanila ni Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. ang mga silid na ilalaan para sa House prosecutors at impeachment secretariat.

“Papakita sa akin ni (Senate) Secretary (Renato Bantug Jr.) kung ano ‘yung mga kuwartong ibibigay sa amin,” aniya bago tumuloy sa Sen. Arturo Tolentino Room.

Nang tanungin kung may partikular na hiling ang Kamara hinggil sa mga pasilidad, sinabi ni Velasco na kanilang susuriin muna ang mga available na espasyo bago magbigay ng anumang rekomendasyon.

“Wala, gusto namin makita muna kung ano ‘yung ia-allot sa amin bago kami gumawa ng request,” aniya.

Binigyang-diin niya ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng tamang pasilidad upang suportahan ang House prosecutors at kanilang mga staff.

“To see the facilities where the House prosecutors and the (Impeachment) Secretariat that will backstaff the prosecution panel. So, our first visit will be this area, this is where the trial will be held, as you can see naka-setup na and we are very happy to see that set-up here,” sabi niya.

“But we will have an office also in the House of Representatives, some sort of a backroom operations, we will designate a room there, where the secretariat and other House officials will be staying for the duration of the trial,” dagdag ni Velasco.

Ipinunto rin niya na ang Senate President ang magsisilbing presiding officer sa impeachment trial, habang ang mga senador naman ang tatayong trial judges.

“The trial judges will be here. And then the Senate President will act as the presiding officer during the trial,” aniya habang tinuturo ang mga upuan sa session hall.

Habang papalapit ang impeachment trial, tiniyak ni Velasco na puspusan ang paghahanda ng House prosecution team upang magampanan ang kanilang mandato.
