PORMAL ng inilungsad ng Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) ang Development of Salt Industry Project (DSIP) sa Dasol, Pangasinan.

Ang programa na tinaguriang Oplan Asin na mayroong temang “Pasiglahin, Sariling Ating Asin!” ay inilungsad sa tulong ng National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI).

Layunin ng panukala na pagandahin ang proseso at mga pamamaraan sa paggawa ng asin sa bansa upang maparami ang suplay sa bansa.

“With Oplan Asin, we will prioritize intervention to our existing salt producers and revive the inactive ones by helping them comply with the market requirements. This is in our bid to ensure sustainable salt production and livelihood of our salt farmers, and ultimately, attain national salt self-sufficiency,” sabi ni DA-BFAR Director Atty. Demosthenes Escoto.

Ang programa ay mayroong P100 milyong pondo para sa unang taon ng implementasyon nito.

Ang mga gumagawa ng asin ay bibigyan ng pagsasanay at mga technology demonstration upang matuto ng mga bagong pamamaraan upang dumami ang kanilang produksyon.
