PAIIGTINGIN ng administrasyong Marcos ang kampanya laban sa tuberculosis (TB).

Ayon kay Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa gagamit ang gobyerno ng bagong estratehiya upang malabanan ang TB alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“One of the directives of the President to me when he appointed me last month actually was to address the problem of TB,” ani Herbosa sa isinagawang press briefing sa Malacañang.

“The Philippines continues to be one of the top countries with the high burden of tuberculosis, and we’re like number 4 rank in the world. We were already down to number 9 but we actually increased again,” sabi pa ng kalihim.

Ayon kay Herbosa dumami ang kaso ng TB sa kasagsagan ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Isa umano sa gagawin ng DOH ay ang paggamit ng mas maikling gamutan. Ang dating anim hanggang siyam na buwang gamutan ay gagawin na lamang umanong apat hanggang anim na buwan.

“So it’s shortened for the regular TB, and then six months for those that are multiple drug-resistant. We’ve also started to implement other things like artificial intelligence [AI] diagnosis with radiology, through the X-ray, the computer already diagnoses the presence or absence of TB,” paliwanag ni Herbosa. “So we’re improving our case detection and we are also improving our delivery.”

Ayon kay Herbosa nasa 1 milyong Pilipino ang mayroong TB.
