HINIMOK ni Navotas Representative at House Information and Communication Technology Chair Toby Tiangco ang mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan na tumugon sa pagnanais ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na kumilos at magkaisa na labanan ang online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC).

Sinabi ni Tiangco na malinaw ang direktiba ng Pangulo na dagdagan pa ang pagsisikap ng pamapahalaan laban sa pang-aabuso sa kabataan na ginagawa sa pamamagitan ng digital space lalu pa’t nakakabahala aniya ang lumalabas na pag-aaral na nananatiling kinagaganapan ng seksuwal na pang-aabuso ang Pilipinas at nakaka-alarma na rin na isa sa bawa’t 100 Pilipino ay apektado nito kaya’t hindi dapat na mapabayaan.

“The President has made it his personal mission to tackle this pressing issue, and it is essential that all government agencies unite to put an end to online children abuse. Collective action is crucial to safeguarding the future of our youth,” sabi pa ng mambabatas.

“Hindi pwedeng mabagal o hindi updated sa nagbabagong realidad sa cyberspace dahil kaligtasan ng mga bata ang nakasalalay. At the heart of public service is our unending hope that we can build a country that will nourish and protect our children. If we let crimes like online child abuse continue to fester and rob our children of a happy childhood, and even a bright future, we are falling short of our promise as public servants,” dagdag pa niya.

Binangggit pa ni Tiangco na matatag ang panawagan ni President Bongbong Marcos na aksiyunan ang naturang problema lalu na’t sumasalamin ito sa layunin ng Pangulo na mabigyan ng proteksiyon ang mga bata, patunay ang pagtatatag niya ng Presidential Office of Child Protection.

“We expect agencies to expedite programs that will further improve the capabilities of law enforcement, local government offices, and even social welfare personnel to prevent and prosecute people involved in online child abuse,” pahayag pa niya.

“While we recognize the ongoing efforts of various agencies in combatting these heinous crimes, a whole-of-government approach is necessary if we want to make a significant impact. We must urgently design and implement community-based programs that tackle root causes such as poverty and unemployment, which often drive individuals into harmful activities,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Labis ang pagkamangha ng mambabatas mula sa Navotas sa kinikitang milyones, o hanggang bilyones na halaga ang gantiong mga uri ng kasuklam-suklam na krimen lalu na’t sa taon 2022 lamang aniya, nakatuklas ang Anti-Money Laundering Council ng transaksiyon na umaabot sa halagang P1.5 bilyong piso na hinihinalang may kaugnayan sa pang-aabusong seksuwal gamit ang online.

“By adopting a whole-of-governance approach, we can anticipate a robust implementation of existing laws, including Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022,” pagwawakas pa ng mambabatas.
