Matapos ang mahigit isang dekadang pagkakakulong sa Indonesia, si Mary Jane Velasco (gitna) ay nakabalik na sa bansa nitong Disyembre 18, 2024, at nakapiling agad ang mga magulang nang siya’y dumating sa Correctional Institution for Women sa Mandaluyong City, kung saan isasailalim siya sa mandatory quarantine ng limang araw at 55-araw na orientation, diagnostic evaluation at initial security classification. Naroon din si Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr.

Kaligtasan ni Veloso prayoridad ni PBBM
PRAYORIDAD ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang kaligtasan ni death row convict Mary Jane Veloso.
Pahayag ito ni Pangulong Marcos matapos maipasailalim na sa kostudiya ng Correctional Institution for Women sa Mandaluyong City si Veloso mula sa Indonesia.
“We assure the Filipino people that Ms. Veloso’s safety and welfare is paramount and our agencies in the justice and law enforcement sector shall continue to ensure it, as our Indonesian counterparts have safeguarded it for so long,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
“The Philippine government welcomes the imminent transfer of Ms. Veloso which was made possible by our strong friendship and cooperation with the Indonesian government,” dagdag pa niya.
Kasabay nito, pinasalamatan ni Pangulong Marcos ang pamahalaan ng Indonesia at lahat ng tumulong na mailipat sa Pilipinas si Veloso.
“We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to the Indonesian government and to all who have extended assistance for the welfare of Ms. Mary Jane Veloso,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
Taong 2010 nang makulong at mahatulan ng kamatayan si Veloso dahil sa pagpupuslit ng illegal drugs sa Indonesia.
