IPINAHAYAG ni House prosecution panel at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong na hindi dapat gamitin ng defense team ni Vice President Sara Z. Duterte ang mga isyu sa Kamara de Representantes upang pagdudahan ang impeachment case laban sa kanilang kliyente.

Binigyang diin ni Adiong na ang kaso laban kay VP Duterte ay dapat hatulan batay sa mga tiyak na alegasyon at ebidensyang nagmula sa mga lehitimong ahensya ng pamahalaan.

“What I’m trying to say is that we also have to compartmentalize the issue. And not to use this as a general narrative to cast doubts on the integrity of the institution, the integrity of the process by which we have seen from the start of the confirmation hearings of the Justice Committee up to the time that we are now at the Senate discussing these matters, the Articles of Impeachment in an open court,” paliwanag ni Adiong.

Ang naging pahayag ni Adiong ay kaugnay sa mga tanong hinggil sa pagtatangka ng depensa na kuwestiyunin ang moral na kredibilidad ng Kamara matapos gamitin ng defense counsel na si Atty. Sheila Sison ang isyu ng kahinhinan at integridad laban sa mga mambabatas sa pagbubukas ng impeachment trial.

Binuksan ang impeachment trial noong Hulyo 6 kung saan nahaharap si VP Duterte sa mga Articles of Impeachment na may kaugnayan sa umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds, hindi maipaliwanag na yaman, panunuhol at korapsyon, at mga banta laban kina President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at dating House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

“According to PSA, some of the names were fictitious. They don’t have any records,” sabi pa ni Adiong.

Binigyang diin nito na ang kaso ng prosekusyon ay hindi nakabatay sa malawakang pag-atake o mensaheng pampulitika, kundi sa mga opisyal na rekord at mga natuklasan ng mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na maaaring suriin ng Senate impeachment court.

“According to the NBI, the signatures were allegedly signed by one person. So all of this evidence would only prove to you that the allegations of the betrayal of public trust, the grave threats that she made against the sitting president and her spouse and the former Speaker were all for everyone to see,” dagdag ni Adiong.
