IBINASURA ni House Majority Leader at Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe ang panukala na amyendahan ang Konstitusyon upang mapalawig ang termino ng mga kongresista at gawin itong limang taon mula sa kasalukuyang tatlong taon.

Ang panukala ay nakasaad sa Resolution of Both Houses No. 8 na inihain ni Ilocos Norte Rep. Angelo Barba noong Lunes.

Ayon kay Dalipe, ang Kamara, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, ay nagsusulong na ang maamyendahan ay ang “restrictive” economic provision ng Konstitusyon upang pumasok sa bansa ang maraming dayuhang mamumuhunan.

“We are sticking with that advocacy, because that is what we think will be good for the country and that is what we believe the people will accept,” sabi pa nito.

Sinabi rin ni Dalipe na suportado ng nakararaming Pilipino ang pag-amyenda sa economic provisions ng Konstitusyon.

Batay sa survey ng big data research firm na Tangere anim sa bawat 10 Pilipino ang sumusuporta sa economic Cha-cha dahil makalilikha ito ng dagdag na mapapasukang trabaho, oportunidad na magkaroon ng pagkakakitaan at magpapabilis sa paglago ng ekonomiya.

“While there is broad acceptance for these reform proposals, a proposed constitutional amendment that is political in nature, on the other hand, will surely divide our people. They will suspect self interest as the motivation behind such proposal,” sabi ng lider ng Kamara.

Ipinunto rin ni Dalipe na natapos na ng Kamara ang economic Charter amendments— ang Resolution of Both Houses No. 7, na pangunahing akda ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

“So those are the proposals of the House. Procedurally, I am not sure if we can entertain another constitutional amendment resolution, although I believe the House is inclined to confine itself to economic Charter reforms,” dagdag pa ni Dalipe.
